What kind of wristwatch is the best?

Advantages of quartz movements:

1. Accuracy.

2. Low cost.

3. Easily maintained.

Disadvantages of quartz movements:

1. Less torque so are easily halted by dust or moisture.

2. Most are limited to one impulse per second which makes for a far less enjoyable hand motion.

Advantages of mechanical movements:

1. Perpetually driven by simple winding of the mainspring.

2. Enjoyable sweep motion of the hands and gentle ticking noise of the escapement.

Disadvantages of mechanical movements:

1. Accuracy is generally inferior to quartz movements.

2. Servicing is regularly required to maintain performance.
